Spinning a yarn for residents

A knitting group has provided vulnerable people with knitted gifts.

Members of the Pinchbeck Baptist Church ‘Knit and Natter’ group presented residents at St John’s Care Home in Spalding with beautiful knitted gifts this week.

Members have been busy knitting hats, gloves and twiddle muffs for residents who were delighted with their new accessories.

The ‘twiddle muffs’, decorated with items including buttons and ribbons, are ideal for residents living with dementia who benefit from the stimulation for restless hands.

Wellbeing and activity coordinator Stephanie Lamont said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to our lovely friends from Pinchbeck Baptist Church Knit and Natter group.

“The fantastic cosy hats and mittens are great when we go out for a walk into town or take a trip out. It’s been so cold and windy recently; it’s been great to see our residents wrapped up in their colourful hats and mittens.”

A spokesman for St John’s said: “The Knit and Natter group from Pinchbeck Baptist Church have inspired St John’s residents to take up their knitting needles too. Residents have been knitting squares to create blankets and have thoroughly enjoyed getting together for a chat over their knitting needles.”
