Spalding Water Polo’s Sharks rip Northampton to shreds as Lord scores seven

Spalding Water Polo’s Sharks continued the club’s winning ways against Northampton, emerging 17-3 winners in their latest home East Midlands league match.

Sharks had the majority of possession in the first quarter, with goals from Gareth Lord (4), Jack Carpenter (2) and one apiece from Ed Martin and Jimmy Hook.

Northampton pulled one back, but Spalding finished the quarter 8-1 up.

Another goal each for Lord, Martin and Hook in the second quarter saw Spalding increase their lead at half time to 11-1.

The third quarter was again dominated by Spalding, with goals from Lord, Martin, Tim Shields and Calvin Wilson.

Northampton scored in the final 30 seconds of the quarter to make the score 15-2.

The final quarter was a mix of great attacking and defending by both teams, Lord and Shields finding the net for the Sharks.
