Spalding takeaway damaged by fire after electrical fault

A popular Spalding takeaway restaurant has been damaged by fire.

Smoke was seen emerging from American Burger on New Road yesterday (Sunday) lunchtime.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called out at 12.23pm to a restaurant on New Road in Spalding being used as a takeaway.

“Both crews from Spalding attended and used breathing apparatus and dry powder extinguishers to put out the fire which affected an electric meter, fuse box and signage on the front of the building.

“The fire was caused by a mains electrical fault and the electricity board attended the scene.

“Fire crews left at 2.06pm.”
