Spalding playgroup forced to close

A last-ditch appeal to save a popular Spalding toddlers group from closure has failed.

Tulip Toddlers, which met every Monday morning at St Nicolas Hall in The Vista, held its final session this week.

Organiser Bridget Jones appealed for more volunteers after half of the four-strong team left due to a change in personal circumstances.
And, although she did get one offer of help, it wasn’t enough to prevent closure of the group, which has been running for 12 years.

“I’d like to thank The Voice for the article about us, but unfortunately we only had one response so we have no other option but to close,” said Bridget.
“It was a very difficult decision because there is a loyal group of mums who attend each week.

“But I have lost my volunteers and, after looking for a year, I’ve been unable to replace them.
“The group has been used a lot by people in the area over the years who have found it very worthwhile.

“It’s a great shame to have to close it down, but we couldn’t keep it running now there’s so few volunteers left.”
