Spalding homes raided in police investigation into organised crime

Three Spalding homes have been raided as part of an investigation into ‘serious and organised crime’.

Six people have been arrested following the raids yesterday (Wednesday, August 17) on those homes and also on a property in Peterborough.

It was instigated by Northamptonshire Police who said it followed an investigation into the theft of £300,000 of tools from a stolen lorry in that county.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police, said: “An investigation into serious and organised crime led Northamptonshire Police to Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire this week where four warrants were executed.

“On the morning of Wednesday, August 17, 16 police officers from Northamptonshire and 10 from Lincolnshire entered one property in Peterborough and three in Spalding as part of an investigation into a theft in April 2021 where £300,000 worth of tools were stolen from a lorry in the Brackmills area of Northampton.

“As a result of the warrants, six people were arrested – five men aged 24, 26, 36 and two aged 35, and a 33-year-old woman.

“A quantity of cash and power tools were recovered whilst a sword and a baton were seized.”

Detective Chief Inspector Liz Wilcox, said: “I’m pleased with the results of these warrants yesterday and I hope it demonstrates that we have no issues crossing our county borders in order to progress investigations and bring those involved in serious and organised crime to justice.

“Tackling serious and organised crime is a matter of priority for Northamptonshire Police and whilst this week is highlighting the work taking place, this type of work will continue far beyond this 12 week surge in our aim to make this county as hostile a place as possible for organised crime gangs.”
