Spalding Gymnastics Academy’s popular Tulip meet delivers the goods again

Spalding Gymnastics Academy enjoyed more great success as they hosted their annual team competition at Cradge Bank.

Aptly named the Tulip competition, it has been very popular with clubs from all over the area. This year, clubs from Peterborough, Colchester, Bletchley and Holbeach took part.

In the morning session, level five and level three teams competed – and medals were shared out.

Spalding finished second and third in the senior level five, with individual medals won by Caitlin Keyzers (silver on beam) and Georgina Harrison and Daisy Cottage (both took silver on vault).

At level three, Spalding finished third in the team event. Rebecca Fones led the way with gold on beam and bronze on vault to also come second overall.

Level four was next and the competition was a lot more challenging, with some strong gymnasts taking part.

Spalding’s Thandine Snell  did very well to win gold on bars, while Amelia Fox finished fourth on vault.

Next up was level two, where the more advanced gymnastics were on show.

Spalding finished third and fourth in the team standings, inspired by Hannah Lawrence who won gold on both floor and vault to clinch third overall.

Ruby Vertuccio also picked up a bronze on floor.

A Spalding club statement said: “It was a very good competition in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere, which was once again a success.

“Well done to everyone involved – including coaches, helpers, kitchen staff and scorers on the day.”
