Spalding Golf Club team retain Bramley Trophy after Belton battle

Spalding Golf Club’s team of Simon Richardson, Hugo Kedzlie and Tommy Hill have retained the Bramley Trophy.

The trio took the trophy jointly with Belton, after both scored four points each. Woodhall Spa were third with one point.

  • Spalding’s first team drew 3-3 at Burghley in their latest fixture.

Wins came from Dan Hines and Dave Whisker (6&5), Emile van de Merwe and Wayne Wallace (4&3) and Hugo Kedzlie and Tommy Hull (6&5).

  • Spalding’s 2nd team enjoyed a thumping 5-1 victory over Blankney at the Surfleet course.

The winning pairs were Mark Cooley and Phil Tweddell (5&4), Spencer Gooderson and Rich Laud (3&2), Matt Richardson and Shaun Gough (4&3), Jerry Philo and Phil Wakefield and Dave Perrot and Darren Ford (5&4).

  • Ladies’ section: Some 40 ladies entered the Greta David Stableford competition – and there was an exciting winner.

Youngster Elisha Camm took the victory with a magnificent 45 points, reducing her handicap by four shots (plus one for exceptional play) in the process. Second spot went to Claire Rylott with 38 points, with Eden Inglis third on 37 points.

  • Spalding’s ladies drew 2-2 at Boston Cowbridge in a friendly clash.

Wins came from Beryl Clay and Jenny Wilson and Sue Dewar and Sybil Thorpe (both 2up), while Jean White and Jennifer Pipe and Jean Wilkinson and Maureen Orwell both lost 2 down.

  • Spalding’s ladies beat Seacroft 3.5-0.5 in a friendly clash at Surfleet.

Theresa Starbuck and Sybil Thorpe won 4&3, Nicky Weller and Jennifer Pipe prevailed 6&5, Paula Brown and Jean White won 5&3 and Sue Watson and Beryl Clay halved.

  • Already promoted Spalding ladies A lost 3-1 at Burghley Park in their final game of the season. Nicky Weller and Ruth Atkins (5&4) were the sole winners.

Men’s section: Rover Cup – 1st Dave Roberts 39pts (ocb); 2nd Pete Vinter 39pts; 3rd D Lord 38pts.

August Medal – 1st Adam Britton 60 nett (ocb); 2nd James Busveisds 60 (ocb); 3rd Adrian Bishop 60.

Ladies section: August Medal – 1st Chris Bennett 71 nett; 2nd Kim Markillie 77.

Seniors’ section: August Medal – 1st Mike Page 59 nett; 2nd Steve Sayer 71 (ocb); 3rd Barry Stanford 71.

Seniors’ Championship: Lowest Gross – 1st Merv Davies 78; 2nd Barry Stanford 82, 3rd David Lord 89. Lowest Net – 1st Raffaele Ragosa 63; 2nd Noel Delaney 69; 3rd Eddie Grange 71 (ocb).
