Spalding Festival had the X-factor

Spalding Festival was just a little bit more special this year as thousands enjoyed the festivities at the weekend.

Chart acts including Liberty X and the Hoosiers headlined three nights of entertainment alongside the usual fantastic array of beers and ciders.
And, once again, a huge amount of money was raised for charities thanks to organisers, Spalding Round Table.
Chair of the Spalding Festival, Matt Clark said: “Friday was a great start with Abz (5ive) and Ben (Phats and Small), who were an incredible duo to close out the first night.
“Our new addition of the dance tent was a hit and Liberty X were amazing on Saturday night.
“For me Groove Cartel really stole the show.”
“From our fabulous drag bingo queens to the kiddie TV mascots and exciting FA Cup final fan zone, we have had great engagement.
“We are seeing a significant increase in the amount raised for charity over previous years.
“It has been incredibly hard work taking this significant step up, but the committee has been amazing, coming together around this more extreme vision, sometimes with blind faith.
“We have loved seeing the enjoyment on people’s faces and have been humbled by the hundreds of thank-you messages we’ve received in person and on social media.”

He continued: “Our group of guys in the Round Table is one of the strongest we’ve had in the two decades I’ve been a member.

“Their diverse skills, resourcefulness, network, creativity, and work ethic have shone through more than ever this year, making this event possible and ensuring our many challenges were swiftly resolved. Almost every member played a key role, for which I am very grateful.

“It has been brilliant to see both colours from the council in support and volunteering on our 11 bars across the festival grounds.

“We are tremendously grateful for their support leading up to the event as well. Our experience with the council members and officers has been one of collaboration, ensuring the event runs smoothly for the benefit of the town.

“Thanks also go to the main sponsors: Bakkavor, Springfields, Ark Property Centre, JH Auctions, XO Nightclub, South Lincs Solar, Lucy Loos, and Imaginarium Boutique Bar.

“Throughout my time in the Round Table, it has been humbling to help such a wide variety of good causes, most of whom would simply fall through the cracks of our benefits system.

“Schools, hospitals, blood bikes, the ambucopter, community groups, end-of-life experiences, retirement engagement projects, and youth initiatives, to name a few, have benefited from the funds we raised at the festival and our successful boxing event prior to that.”
