Four run outs helped Spalding 2nd to return to winning ways with an emphatic win over Skegness 2nd.
Matt Gill’s side put some daylight between themselves and the bottom of the table home side with a thrashing that emulated Spalding 1st XI’s win on the same ground the previous week.
This win was set up by a brilliant bowling and fielding display that left Skegness 91 all out in just 30 overs having been put in by Gill.
Jamie Juckes (2-9) got the ball rolling sending Skegness openers Michael Simpson (4) and Jack Delaney (0) back to the hutch.
Skegness’s total would have been even less but for their number three Josh Noble who hit a fine 40.
He was one of the run outs though with Matthew Sharpe, Chris Green, Eddie Seymour also effecting their own dismissals in that manner.
All but Green were in the wickets too, Sharpe and Seymour both claiming 1-4 and White 1-10.
Andrew Cook also claimed 1-4 as Spalding were set 92 to win.
They were given a fine start by Ethan Lawrence and Peter Cook who set them on their way.
Both fell before the close to Michael Simpson (2-15), Lawrence for 36 and Cook for 30.
But William Barnes (10 not out) and Jonah Gill (14 not out) saw their side home in just 18 overs for an impressive eight wicket win.
Spalding’s second win of the season has moved them 43 points above Skegness 2nd who are still winless this season.
The victory proved important as second from bottom Timberlands also won at Heckington who Spalding 2nd visit this coming weekend.
They will be looking to extend their 22 point advantage over Timberland in the league table.
