Spalding man recognised in New Year Honours gets a curtain call

Spalding’s Graham Dark, who received a BEM award in the New Year’s Honours, had a surprise call on to a theatre stage to be congratulated.

Graham, who founded and runs Spalding 50+ Sports and Social Club, has been arranging trips to The Embassy Theatre in Skegness for 15 years.
The surprise came during a recent trip for 57 people to see Enchanted.

Janice Sutton, principal of Janice Sutton Theatre School and Productions, said: “Graham has been a huge fan of our shows, arranging excursions for the club.

“We are so proud of Graham for all he does for the community and for all the years of happy times for his wonderful work. He is a very caring and dedicated person who deserves the long-awaited award.”
