South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club’s young guns shine at ‘last chance’ meet

Some 15 swimmers from South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club attended the Last Chance Regional Qualifiers meet at the regional pool in Peterborough.

And, with senior members of the squad competing at Sheffield in the Regional Championship, it was time for the club’s emerging youth to shine.

The window for Lincolnshire’s Counties entry is now open – with Charlotte Ciuberkyte (age 11) and Rianna Abbott (10) gaining their first qualifying times.

Abbott also achieved the bronze in her 50m backstroke event.

Luke Sorrell (9), who was competing for the first time, achieved bronze in the 200m IM.

His older brother Oliver (10) also impressed and his haul included gold in the 50m breaststroke, silver in the 400m free, 400m IM, 200m backstroke, 200m fly, 200m breaststroke, 200m free, 100m back, 100m breast, 100m free and 50m free, as well as bronze in the 200m fly, 50m backstroke and 50m fly.

Nitesh Anbazaghan (11) has his first two regional times under his belt for this season with personal best (PB) times in every race at the competition. He also claimed silver in the 100m fly and 100m breaststroke, plus bronze in the 200m IM and 50m breaststroke.

Meanwhile, Isobel Gosling (10) grabbed gold in the 50m fly, silver in the 400m IM and bronze in the 200m IM

Edward Skells (14) landed silver in the 200m IM and bronze for his 50m breaststroke – achieving the county qualifying time in the process. Twin sister Esther (14) took bronze in the 400m IM, 200m IM and 200m freestyle, securing six county times for next season.

Elsewhere, Beatrice Finch (11) bagged Bronze in the 200m IM and 200m backstroke, while Lilli Bowman (10) debuted in her 100m backstroke.

Ellie O’Brien (11), Naomi Blanchard (12), Dzuigas Baziliausgas (12), Anish Suwaneraj (10) and Adidita Chabria (12) all achieved PBs –which they all should be extremely proud of.

Heidi Skells, Tracy Abbott and Matt Gosling were all supporting poolside and were extremely proud of all the club swimmers throughout the weekend.
