South Holland District Council leader Gary Porter becomes chairman of Local Government Association

South Holland District Council leader Gary Porter has been made chairman of Local Government Association.

Coun Porter, who is the Conservative Group leader on the association, was unopposed for the coveted role.

The leadership board provides direction and oversees the work of the LGA, which is a politically-led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government.

Coun Porter was one of four vice-chairmen in 2014/15.
