Society’s art goes out to you

Spalding Arts and Crafts Society are getting ready for their annual big exhibition at Ayscoughfee Hall.

Their artwork will be on display in the Geest Gallery from May 2 to 30 and this year there will be a special ‘Meet The Artists’ event where you can talk to the artists about their artwork.

That takes places on Saturday, May 11 from 11am to 3pm.

The group’s chair Maggie Goodsell, said: “Members will be available to discuss the paintings on display.

“Several of us will also be painting and there will be an opportunity to ‘have a go’ yourself.

“The event is apparently on at the same time as Ayscoughfee’s ‘Happy Healthy Minds’ weekend and they are keen to promote the benefits of art.”

The gallery will be open 10.30am to 4pm Wednesday to Sunday, including Bank Holiday Mondays from May 2 to May 30.

Members of the Spalding Arts and Crafts Society will also be exhibiting at the St Mary’s Pinchbeck Flower Festival which takes place from April 27 to May 6.

If that wasn’t enough the group will be at Tulipfest where Horticultural Society have again sponsored a painting competition for members of Spalding Arts & Crafts Society.

The subject is ‘The History of Tulips in South Holland’ wher first and second prizes will be judged and a third prize will be chosen by a Public Vote of visitors to the show.
