The title race in Spalding and District Snooker League Division One looks wide open after Thursday night’s results.
Pyramid D remain top of the pile, but their 4-2 home defeat against Services A leaves a host of teams within striking distance.
Mike Knight (O21) earned the high-flying Spalding side the lion’s share of the points with a black ball success over rival Pete Jackson (scr) in the final frame.
Marcus Hamilton (O35) and Knight made breaks of 29 and 25 respectively in that clash.
Second-placed Tulips B cashed in as they saw off Holbeach C 4-2. Mark Wilkinson’s (O14) final frame victory clinched their win, while team-mate Mark Woodberry (O63) starred with a 40 break.
They remain level on points with third-placed Bourne SC A in third after they handed hosts Holbeach D a 4-2 reverse. Clearances of 25 from both Mark Gray (O105) and Oliver Player (O28) helped the duo win key frames for the high flyers.
Tulips A remain in the mix too, having won 4-2 at Services C in an all-Spalding showdown. Martin Anderson (O7) settled that derby with a final frame triumph.
Elsewhere, struggling Boundary B enjoyed a welcome 4-2 win at Consti B, while Stuart Atkin’s (O49) 35 break steered Long Sutton A to a 5-1 win over Holbeach A.
A 31 break from Jason Green (O63) in the final frame also helped Pyramid F edge past Pyramid A 4-2.
In Division Two, leaders Consti F slipped to a 4-2 home defeat against Donington in an incredibly close clash.
Four of the five frames went to the final black, with Jim Thompson’s (scr) success over Justyn Stanley (R7) at the death proving key.
Nearest rivals Boundary C took advantage of the loss to close the gap as they prevailed 5-1 at home against Whittlesey C.
However, third-placed Tulips C came a cropper at Holbeach B as Paul Boucher (O28) starred with a 32 break and 25 clearance.
Services B were the big winners of the week as they dispatched Consti H 6-0. Alan Hansard (O7) finished off the whitewash with a 28 clearance.
The best break at this level came from Carl Parnell (O28), who pocketed a 45 in Sutton Bridge’s 4-2 loss at Crowland A.
At the foot, Long Sutton B are beginning to look isolated after going down 4-2 at home against Holbeach E. Stuart Sullivan (O14) made a 32 break for Holbeach as he won the decisive final frame.
In Division Three, Gosberton C picked up an impressive 5-1 win at Pyramid E to keep themselves firmly in the promotion hunt.
Gosberton D won by the same score in their all-club affair with Gosberton B as Paulo Gensiorskj (scr) starred with a 21 break.
Elsewhere, Consti J saw off Services D 4-2 with frame wins from Les Andrews (scr), Nev Vickers (R14) and Nick Keeble (O35), while a 34 break from Malc Bruce (O7) couldn’t stop Whittlesey A losing 4-2 against Consti I.
Nic Savic’s (O56) 22 break also helped Consti A win 4-2 at Donington D.
