Moulton Harrox continued their fine form in South Lincs and Border League Premier Division after a six-wicket victory at Freiston on Saturday.
Travis Harrison (4-26) starred as Harrox bowled out their hosts for 157 in 43.1 overs, before Shoaib Nasir’s unbeaten 87 steered them to 161-4 in reply.
Freiston batted first after winning the toss, but a magical spell from Harrison saw them reduced to 51-4.
He dismissed Richard Paul (9), Usman Ahmed (0), Waseem Ilyas (7) and Abdul Moeed (4) to put Harrox on the front foot early on.
Taimur Mian (69) and Zeeshan Saeed (30) did put on 62 for the fifth wicket, but they were the only home players to make double figures.
Indeed, Matthew Rose (3-48), Cameron Fox (2-11) and Henry Lavery (1-23) made light work of the rest of the order – with Fox getting the prized wicket of Mian, bowling him clean.
Moulton lost skipper Chris Beale (0) right at the start of their reply, while Jack Barnett (10) and Lavery (13) also went cheaply.
But Nasir, who hit 11 fours and a six, led the Harrox charge and was aided by Matt Barnett (29) before being joined by Rose (11 not out) to see them over the line.
They are now above Long Sutton in the table after they were handed a four-wicket home reverse against Newborough at Paradise Field.
Sutton won the toss and batted first, making 212-9 from their 45 overs with Barry Stanway making a super 65 from 54 balls.
That proved a little too light to fend off the visitors, with David Cooper’s 86 guiding them to 213-6 from 40.3 overs in reply.
Sutton’s innings was full of strong contributions, with openers Calvin Bird (31) and Jake Burton (36) and all-rounder Charlie Crisp (35) scoring well.
But Stanway’s explosive half-century, which included six fours and four sixes, was the stand-out effort.
Crisp (2-38) and captain Burton (2-54) both took two wickets in the reply, but Newborough stood firm with an opening stand of 98 between Cooper and George Woods (31) the foundation for their victory.
In Division Two, Thomas Decamps took amazing figures of 6-33 as Spalding 2nd beat Baston by 20 runs.
Andrew Sorrell’s 32 helped Town make 116 from 42.1 overs batting first.
John Lamin scored 27 in Baston’s reply, but he was one of Decamps’ victims as he helped bowl the visitors out for 96 at Seas End Hall.
Meanwhile, Moulton Harrox 2nd’s title hopes look over after an eight-wicket home loss to Ancaster. Harrox made 154-6 batting first, before Ancaster eased to 155-2 at Broad Lane.
