Slater stars with end-of-year hat-trick

Flynn Slater was the derby hero as Pinchbeck United ended their year on a high with a 3-0 United Counties League win ‘away’ to ground landlords Sleaford Town.

It was the Knights’ first treble since Enoch Apayinka netted three times against Newark in September 2021.

All three goals were set up by Elliot Foster and came after 27 minutes, with a tidy finish from inside the box, and 36 when he scooped the ball over the home goalkeeper.

Slater came close to his treble after 71 minutes but fired his shot over the bar. However, he did complete his hat-trick in the last minute, going one-on-one to fire in the memorable strike.

The win came a week after man of the match Elliot Foster struck a late penalty in a 2-1 defeat at home to Stapleford Town, which had extended Pinchbeck’s poor run of results to one win in 12 games.
