Silver Spoon Bowmen’s Sam and Oscar look to add to their already impressive medal haul

Two archers from Spalding’s Silver Spoon Bowmen are celebrating medal success – but they can’t rest on their laurels for too long as they’re both representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland later this month.

Student Oscar Orford (17) won silver in the under-18 gents’ compound team at the European Youth Cup in Romania, losing out narrowly to the Israeli team that contained the winner of the individual category.

Orford soon travels to Lilleshall National Sports Centre to take part in the European Championships and hopes that home conditions will help his bid to win a medal.

Spalding Academy Teaching assistant Sam Newton comfortably won his age group at the 2022 Westfield Heath British Transplant Games and also shot the highest score across the field in doing so.

He will captain a team of 15 at the European Transplant and Dialysis Games – starting this Sunday – having won the same competition the last time it was held in 2018.
