Silva Jubilee! Ricardo’s late strike settles Mont Pell Trophy final in Spalding side’s favour

A late stunner from substitute Ricardo Silva fired Jubilee to Mont Pell Trophy glory on Sunday.

The Portuguese smashed home a half-volley into the top corner at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field to give the Spalding-based side a 2-1 victory over CSKA Emneth Reserves.

Chris Beale had earlier given Paul Rudkin’s side a 1-0 lead direct from a free-kick, but CSKA’s second string levelled and looked to be sending the game to extra time.

Silva had other ideas, though, settling the Spalding and District Sunday League final in spectacular style.

It’s a fourth Mont Pell win for Jubilee after previous victories in 2001, 2004 and 2017.

For CSKA, they’ll now look to bounce back against their first team in the John Chappell Shield final at the Sir Halley on Sunday (10.30am).

Jubilee squad: Chris Beale, Leigh Boekestyn, Scott Britton, Matthew Cannon, Jacob Louth, Josh McGuire, Robbie Relf, Paul Sellars, Liam Thirkell, Ryan Wheeler, Brandon Hall, Luke Chilvers, Kev Nottingham, Ricardo Silva, Steve Sinfield and Dalton Sharman.
