‘Several hundred’ could be affected as serious fraud investigation is launched into Spalding company

A lottery syndicate set up by a former chairman of Spalding United FC is being investigated by police over a suspected fraud that could affect ‘several hundred’ people.

Lincolnshire Police is appealing for anyone who may have relevant information on the Spalding based The Lottery Syndicate Club Ltd.

According to Companies House, the sole director of the company set up in September 2015 is Chris Toynton.

He was also a director of Spalding United Football Club from December 2002 to May 2015.

Companies House also lists him as a director of Spalding Spread Bet Ltd.

There is no suggestion that company, or Spalding United are part of the investigation.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police told The Voice: “Following complaints of suspected fraud, Lincolnshire Police are currently investigating matters connected to The Lottery Syndicate Club Ltd in Spalding, potentially affecting several hundred members.

“Lincolnshire Police would like to hear from anyone with relevant information by contacting the investigation team by email: [email protected]
