Sessions to try something new

Over 55s have been trying table tennis and making craft sessions in free classes to encourage them to keep active.

The First Time for Everything sessions continued with Gosberton Table Tennis Club recently leading a sessions at the Marjoram Hall in Gosberton Risegate.
Attendees gave the sport a go, playing each other and picking up some coaching.
Another session included the making of key rings, a process called ‘Kumihimo’.
A group for this was put on by craft tutor Louise Duly at Tonic 44 Hub in Surfleet.
Andrea Briggs, Royal Voluntary Service activity co-ordinator for Lincolnshire, said: “Most people attending hadn’t done this craft before and so found this interesting moving their threads around the disc to create an amazing pattern, so easy when you know how.
“The tutor brought along some lovely silk threads to use, and after using the discs to make the varied patterns, everyone took home a beautiful keyring.
“All were proud of what they had made.”
There was also a paper crafts session at Tonic Health put on by Handmade by Andrea K.
“Everyone’s take-home crafts were different; we paper crafted flowers, eggs and bunnies, all with a spring theme,” continued Andrea.
“There was lots of friendly chat between attendees; we welcomed new participants to First Time For Everything and we enjoyed a cuppa and biscuits too.”
