Second for South Lincs swimming ace Elliott at Coventry

A super silver medal for Luke Elliott was the highlight for South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club at the Midlands Youths Long Distance Championship.

Elliott, who is 15, took the silver medal position in the 1,500m freestyle event at Coventry.

Team-mate Will Swain was ninth in the same event, while Alice Gowing place 14th in the 800m freestyle race.

  • Ten-year-old Hannah Willis had a very impressive set of results for South Lincs at the Leicester Age Group Open meet.

Her fine results included a silver medal in the 400m freestyle and bronze in the 100m backstroke. Luke Blanchard (14) achieved third place in his 400m Individual Medley and 200m fly, while 16-year-old Alice Gowing took bronze in the 200m fly.

Also impressive was Emily McCann, who recorded a Midlands Qualifying Time (MQT) in the 50m breaststroke.

  • Three male South Lincs swimmers swam a total of 16 races at the Level One Premier meet in Sheffield.

Both Will Swain (200m free) and Luke Elliott (1,500m free) managed third places.

  • South Lincs girls Alice Gowing, Rebecca McKenzie, Emily McCann and Dusty Saines joined Tom Mitchell at the Level One Norwich meet. Coached and supported by Callum Lawson, 12 of their 17 swims resulted in top ten placings.
