Pinchbeck United Sunday added another title to their growing collection at the weekend as their bid for an unprecedented quadruple gathered pace.
Tom Roberts’ side beat Sutton Bridge Sunday 3-1 in the final of the Spalding Sunday League’s Knockout Cup at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field – just two weeks after lifting the John Chappell Shield.
Goals from Ryan Wheeler, Ainsley Johnson and man-of-the-match Bobby Patterson delivered the goods for Pinchbeck, who look odds-on to lift the league title and still have a Lincs Sunday Cup final to play on April 26 at Sincil Bank.
Ben English hit Bridge’s consolation in the final.
In the league, Punchbowl Tigers and Punchbowl Panthers battled out an amazing 5-5 draw at Monkshouse Lane.
The highlight of that one was a hat-trick for Tigers’ Steven Davies.
Also firing a treble was Brennans Sports’ Daniel Bergin as his side won a cracking contest at Jubilee 5-2. Tom Cherry and Matthew Wilson were also on the scoresheet for Sports at Monkshouse Lane, with Christopher Taylor hitting one of the goals for beaten Jubilee.
Meanwhile, Swineshead Institute Sunday moved top with a comfortable 5-0 home win over Spalding Seas End Wanderers. They have played four more games than Pinchbeck, though.
