Schemes want to hear from you

Surfleet is the latest area to launch its own Good Neighbours scheme while Spalding residents are being urged to let their views known on the proposed one for that town.

The idea behind it is to organise a group of volunteers who will look to carry out tasks such as picking up prescriptions or shopping for those that need it most.
As reported last week, an East Elloe group has been launched for the south of the district while the Spalding COVID Kindness Team is looking to merge into one and is urging residents to respond to a survey that’s being sent out to see exactly what’s needed in the town.
Surfleet’s Good Neighbours has been set up in connection with the charity Tonic Health which runs the village’s community cafe in Station Road.
The charity’s Michael Morris said: “By speaking to professionals, voluntary sector colleagues and individuals we have identified some common themes that local people are asking for support with.
“Initially, the themes we will be supporting are befriending and reducing loneliness, signposting to many local voluntary sector organisations, groups and charities, and supporting form filling and smaller tasks that people are struggling with.”
Anyone wishing to help volunteer or in need of help from the Surfleet Good Neighbours can contact

l Spalding residents have until Monday, November 30 to return their surveys on the setting up of a Good Neighbours scheme for the town.
There is a working group established, supported by a number of organisations and individuals, to include local councillors, Lincolnshire Community Voluntary Service, South Holland District Council Communities Team, Wellbeing Lincs and Welland Senior Forum.
