Spalding United ended their five-game winless run with a 2-0 victory at Soham Town Rangers on Saturday, while Pinchbeck United drew 1-1 with Quorn and Holbeach United were hammered 7-0 at Long Eaton United.
Starting with the Tulips, goals in each half from Sam Cartwright (12) and Liam Adams (47) gave them all three points against the Pitching In NPL Midlands Division’s bottom side Soham.
The victory at Julius Martin Lane moves Brett Whaley’s side back up to tenth place with just three games of the season left to play.
In the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North, Pinchbeck are now five points from safety after Saturday’s results – and it would have been worse but for keeper Alex Smith.
The Knights drew 1-1 with Selston at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, with Spencer Weir-Daley’s 42nd minute penalty cancelling out Bamoussa Cisse’s early opener on eight minutes.
Smith was the hero, though, saving a late penalty to ensure that Pinchbeck at least grabbed a point.
Meanwhile, relegation rivals Selston won 2-1 against Eastwood to leave Lewis Thorogood’s side in a very tough position with just three games to go as the bid to stay in the division and avoid making it a double relegation season for South Holland sides.
Already relegated Holbeach had another day to forget as they were drubbed 7-0 at leaders Long Eaton United – a result that made it 29 defeats from 32 games for the winless Tigers and pushed their goal difference to a monstrous -102.
Long Eaton’s goals came from Kameron Campbell (32), Alex Marshall (79, 81 and 83), Tom Marshall (62) and Jamie Walker (87) at Grange Park.
