Saturday football: Derby defeats for Pinchbeck and Holbeach United, Spalding and Moulton see their games rained off

Both Holbeach United and Pinchbeck United suffered defeats on Saturday as the recent bad weather ripped through many of the other football fixtures.

Indeed, Spalding United and Moulton Harrox were among the South Holland sides to see their games called off, with their fixtures against Ilkeston Town and Oakham United respectively rained off.

There was some action in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division, though, with Holbeach soundly beaten 3-0 at home by South Lincolnshire neighbours Deeping Rangers.

The goals came from ex-Tiger Will Bird, Luke Steele and T’ai Williams at Carter’s Park as rock-bottom Holbeach edged closer to the drop.

Pinchbeck remain one place above them after they lost 2-1 at Sleaford Town in another all-Lincolnshire affair.

Goals in the first half from Danny Durkin and Joe Smith sunk the Knights, who are still two points from safety.

In the ChromaSport PDFL, Long Sutton Athletic lost 5-0 at Stilton United in the only top flight game involving a South Holland side to take place.

Likewise, Moulton Harrox Reserves crushed Crowland Town Reserves 7-1 at the Snowden Field in Division One
