Saturday football: Defeats for Spalding United and Pinchbeck United, Moulton smash seven

Both Spalding United and Pinchbeck United saw their poor form continue on Saturday as they suffered disappointing defeats.

In the Pitching In NPL South East Division, Spalding slipped to a 3-1 home loss against Chasetown to extend their losing run to three games.

Alex Curtis, Kris Taylor and Joey Butlin got the goals for visitors Chasetown at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, with Spencer Weir-Daley getting the Tulips’ consolation.

After topping the early standings after two games, Lewis Thorogood’s side are now down in 12th place.

Pinchbeck, meanwhile, lost 3-2 at previously winless Sleaford Town in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division.

Sam Jackson (2) and Wez Greenwood scored for the hosts, with Tom Crozier’s Knights slipping down to 18th in the table.

Elsewhere, Moulton Harrox impressed with a 7-2 Lincs Junior Cup win at Kirton Town and Long Sutton Athletic also progressed with a 4-2 home win over Keelby United.

In the PDFL Premier Division, unbeaten Holbeach United Reserves shone with a 6-1 win over visitors Oakham United and are now fourth in the table.
