Saturday football: Dec fires Harrox into county final, Smith stunner seals super Spalding win, Holbeach and Pinchbeck both beaten

A Declan Earth double helped Moulton Harrox defeat Grantham Town Academy 2-0 on Saturday to send them into the final of the Lincs FA Junior Cup, while Spalding United beat high-flying hosts Halesowen Town 1-0 and both Pinchbeck United and Holbeach United were defeated.

Starting with Moulton, they booked a county final date with Wyberton after a fine victory at Grantham Town Academy.

Red-hot frontman Earth grabbed a goal in each half to secure the win, while keeper Ant Murphy and his defence made it an incredible nine clean sheets in a row.

In the Pitching In NPL Midlands Division, Gregg Smith scored a late stunner to secure Spalding perhaps their most impressive result of the season so far.

The big striker netted 15 minutes from time in front of a crowd of more than 1,000 at The Grove, as the Tulips dented Halesowen’s title chances.

In the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North, it’s looking grim for Holbeach United after they lost 3-2 at relegation rivals Selston.

A Carl Moore double gave Selston a 2-0 half-time lead, but Cameron Gow and Alis Hallaci both got their first goals for the Tigers to make it 2-2 with 20 minutes left.

However, Ben Moore grabbed a winner 12 minutes from time to leave winless Holbeach 12 points from safety – and their hopes of survival are fading.

Above them, Pinchbeck are now in the drop zone after being leapfrogged by Selston.

They were soundly beaten by a league leaders Long Eaton United 4-0 at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, with Kameron Campbell (15), Marley Fearon (39), Sam Parker (89) and Ben Hutchinson (90) all on target.

The Knights are now two points behind Selston and have played four games more than their rivals.
