Saturday football: Bad break for Dougill sees Tigers game abandoned, Bishop bags late winner for Pinchbeck

A horrible injury to Dan Dougill marred Saturday’s South Holland football – with the Holbeach United youngster suffering a broken leg.

The bad break occurred in the second half of the Tigers’ ChromaSprt UCL Premier Division clash with Cogenhoe United and it caused the game to be abandoned.

Holbeach were trailing 2-0 at the time, with the Cooks scoring through Ryan Dove and Matt Long.

The results elsewhere actually went for Seb Hayes’ side, with leaders Newport Pagnell walloped 4-0 at Yaxley and Wisbech Town held 1-1 at Oadby Town.

That leaves Holbeach six points off top spot with four games in hand.

Down in UCL Division One, a last-gasp Nick Bishop goal earned leaders Pinchbeck United a 3-2 win at Olney Town.

They fell behind on 12 minutes, but Liam Ogden levelled on 32 minutes to make it 1-1 at the break.

Ollie Maltby’s 72nd-minute penalty put the Knights ahead, but they were pegged back to 2-2 ten minutes from time.

However, Bishop grabbed the winner seven minutes into added time in a second half that lasted 59 minutes.

The win keeps Ian Dunn’s side seven points clear at the top.

Elsewhere, Moulton Harrox Reserves beat hosts Long Sutton 4-2 in the big ChromaSport PDFL game.

A hat-trick from Martin Sandall inspired Harrox to victory in the Chairman Championship Shield clash.

Also making cup progress were Holbeach United Reserves, who beat Sawtry Reserves 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
