Saturday cricket: Newton’s best-ever 159 steers Spalding Town to second win on spin

Josh Newton made a stunning century as Spalding Town made it back-to-back wins in the Lincs ECB Premier Division on Saturday.

Opener Newton cracked 159 – his best ever Saturday score – in Town’s total of 258-5 at Spalding Grammar School, before Roy Tilley took 6-42 to bowl out visitors Louth for 178.

Luke Hollingworth (35) and Warren Nel (31) also scored nicely in Spalding’s 80-run win, with young gun Jon Manton (2-46) and Hollingworth (1-19) taking the other wickets.
