Rose & Crown hold nerve for victory as 180s flow freely

There were 180s galore between Rose & Crown A and Drayman’s Arms A in the Spalding League.

Eight 180s were hit between the two teams, with both Richard Cooper and Finlay Clayton throwing two each and Kev Newton, Dan Carnell and Tyger Atkin also striking maximums. Cooper and Clayton both hit two 180s in the same game but both went on to lose, Cooper in the pairs and Clayton to Steve Urch in the singles.

The game was level at 3-3 but Carnell, Ian Lawson and Hank Watson all won to make it 6-3 to the Rose & Crown.
Atkin was in fine form hitting a 17-dart leg in the pairs with Carnell  and had an 18-dart leg in his singles win over Newton.

Rose & Crown C had a comfortable 7-2 win over Consti D. Duncan Hunt hit a 180 in his win and Logan Goddard and Ant Richardson hit a 17-dart leg in their pairs win, where they had seven scores of 100 or more between them.

Consti A remain unbeaten after beating Green Dragon A 6-3. Jason Vines was in fine form, hitting a 17-dart leg in the pairs with Sam Roberts and he followed it up with a 17-dart leg of his own in his singles win. Game of the night was a win for Mick Holstead against previously unbeaten Chris Fidler. Holstead won 2-0, despite Fidler hitting a 180. Holstead’s three scores of 100 or more in each leg and sharp finishing won him the game, including an 18-dart leg.

Royal Mail Cart had an 8-1 win over struggling Drayman’s B with Jacob Herd on fire, hitting 14 and 18-dart legs in his singles win and a 145 check out. Matt Broderick, of the Drayman’s, had a 122 check out in his pairs win with Connor Hughes, which was the only win on the night for Drayman’s.

In a tight game, Ye Olde Abbey won 5-4 against Lincoln Arms A. Richard Smith got the all-important win for Abbey against Dave Bourne. Stan Browning and Steve Stancer were on form for their teams, both hitting 180s and Browning had an 18-dart leg, while Stancer had a 16 in his win.

In Division Two, Pinchbeck FC A won the derby game against their B team 5-4. The game went down to the last game where John Mackenzie beat Emma Tickner 2-0 to take the victory for the A team. Ant Norman hit a 180 in his game  but lost out to Andy Mason 2-1.

Consti E dropped points, losing 5-4 to Five Bells, which keeps them second in the league but Pinchbeck pulled further ahead. Five Bells started off the better, going 2-1 up in the pairs, before Paul Blow levelled the game at 2-2. Zach Chapman put Five Bells back in the lead but Dan Gent beat Jake Hinta-Penta 2-0 with the help of a 180 to level the scores.

Hinta-Penta hit a 101 checkout. Mark Dixon put Consti ahead for the first time but wins for Tom Burton and Hinta-Penta sealed the points for the Tydd side.

Holbeach Services A had a 6-3 win against Mulberry’s with Stu Seaton’s performance standing out for Mulberry’s with five scores of 100 or more in his win.

Lincoln B beat Holbeach Services 7-2 where Lesley Chamberlain hit a maximum in her win and John Charlton hit a 17-dart leg in his victory over Jamie McHugh.

In another derby, Riverside B beat their A team 8-1, with Dax Norton hitting a maximum 180 and James Hodgetts hitting an 18-dart leg.

Green Dragon B kept top spot in Division Three by beating Spalding Services 6-3. Aaron Barnes hit a maximum in his win for the Services.

Punchbowl moved into second place and are enjoying their debut season. They beat Tigers B 6-3, with the best scorer being Ed Barnes, who hit four scores over 100 in his win.

Riverside C had a 6-3 win against Drayman’s Arms C, with Tyler Morris and Stan Bolton the only singles winners for Drayman’s.

There was a big 8-1 win for Pinchbeck FC C against Tigers A. Pinchbeck won all six singles games, thanks to Ash Brown, Gary Coomes, Fin Andrew, Rydan Dobney, Kenzie Foster and Graham Amess.
