Slim margins for Division A wins

Round four of league fixtures in the Dewhursts Trophies Pinchbeck & District Summer League produced a set of remarkably close contests in Division A.

All matches were decided by the narrowest of margins. Consti Club C edged out Pinchbeck FC B 14-13 away from home. Jordan Philpott had already secured the overall win before Mark Dixon and John MacKenzie both recorded 3-0 victories in the final two singles for the football club. Conor Clift recorded a 180 for the Pinchbeck side.

Lincoln Arms A were beaten 14-13 on their visit to the Royal Mail Cart. The match went down to the final singles where, although Ben Connell lost 2-1 to John Charlton, he claimed the crucial leg needed to seal the win for the Cart. Steve Gaughan hit a 100 checkout and Sam Roberts struck a 180 for Lincoln. There were 17-dart legs for both Chris Fidler (Mail Cart) and Paul Blow (Lincoln).

League leaders Tiger Club also came through a tight encounter, winning 14-13 at home to Services Club B. Si Hill secured the decisive leg, despite losing his singles 2-1 to Steve Rawding. Dave Norbury and Ady Smith both won their singles 3-0 for the Services to close the gap, with Norbury producing a 107 checkout. Tony Clark added a 105 finish for the Services, while Bret Butler Brewster delivered an 18-dart leg for the Tigers.

In Division B, Consti Club B claimed a 16-11 win at Green Dragon Z. Trailling 15-6, the Dragon reduced the deficit with singles wins for Harry Tucker (2-1) and Callum Day (3-0).

Pinchbeck FC A remain top after a 16-11 victory at Consti Club D, with Josh Burton and Emma Tickner winning the final two singles to secure the result. Mark Spiller produced a 120 checkout for the Pinchbeck side.

Pinchbeck FC C also stayed top of Division C, following a narrow 14-13 win at Consti Club A. Despite losing his singles 2-1, Graham Amess claimed the vital leg needed to seal the overall victory.

The biggest winners of the week were Services Club A, who recorded an 18-9 home success against Drayman’s Arms A. The only singles win for Drayman’s came from Stan Bolton, who beat Lindsay Kelk 3-0.
