Pupils from several local schools for children with disabilities were once again among those to get the first to get a taste of Tuby’s Fun Fair as it rolled into Spalding again today (Thursday).
For the last 40 years that the fun fair has arrived in town its teamed up with the Spalding Branch of Lions International for a sneak preview of the rides before the main gates open to the public.
This year pupils Gosberton House, Garth and Priory Schools as well as some of those who attend the Chappell Centre in Spalding enjoyed rides including the dodgems and the waltzers.
Roger Tuby currently runs the fair, having taken it on from his dad, also called Roger,
“We do this at several fairs, mostly in and around Yorkshire, but Spalding is special as it was one of the first such days for children my dad put on,” said Roger. “We’ve been coming for about 45 years and my dad’s a Lions member.
“It’s really exhilarating when you see the delight on the kids faces.”
Spalding Lions president Terry Patey said: “It’s a day we always look forward to and it’s a highlight in the calendar for the kids too.
“It’s nice to give something back to the community .
“It’s what Roger does and what we love to do.”
Tuby’s Fun Fair officially opens to the general public at 6pm tonight (Thursday) and runs until Monday night.
