Retrospective request for listed building plans

A group of retrospective planning applications for Ayscoughfee Hall by South Holland District Council has been questioned by a member.

In total, six applications were all made after the district council had carried out the work. Three of them were duplicates relating to the fact the boundary wall and dwarf walls in question are Grade II Listed.

Independent district council member Angela Newton, said it was ‘sad’ to see that of 35 planning applications verified last week, six of them were retrospective by the district authority.

“Whilst it is not against the law to submit retrospective applications, I don’t believe it sets the best example,” she said.

One application related to safety issues following the ‘partial collapse’ of a Grade II listed boundary wall.

It had to be reduced on safety grounds and work was carried out in advance of permission from the district council.

Another application related to repair work on a shelter and removal of dwarf walls adjacent to the paddling pool.

The third application was to demolish greenhouses and install wooden fencing, a pergola and replacement door to a store.

South Holland District Council said it was unable to provide a comment as The Voice went to press.
