Red-hot Long Sutton see off rivals to race clear in Spalding Snooker League’s Division Two

Long Sutton A made it five wins from as many matches in Division Two of Spalding and District Snooker League after handing rivals Consti G their maiden defeat on Thursday night.

Super Sutton stormed six points clear at the top of the table with a 5-1 win in Spalding, with Stuart Atkin (O35) making a 20 break.

Steve Dent (R7), Derek Beba (O7), Atkin and Sean Swinburn (O28) were their frame winners, with Nigel West (scr) the sole Consti victor on the night.

Services F are sitting second after they dispatched hosts Consti H 4-2 to make it four wins from five.

This clash had four black-ball games, including one that was decided by a 22 clearance from Services’ Oliver Turner (O28).

Consti B sit third after they dispatched Gosberton D 4-2, John Keeton (O14) clinching that one in the penultimate frame.

At the other end of the table, Holbeach B are still searching for a maiden victory after they were beaten 4-2 by friendly foes Holbeach C.

This one went to the final frame, with Paul Ashton (R14) seeing off Ben Harding (O7) to take the game for his side.

Elsewhere, a 28 break from Steve Jennings (O28) helped Whittlesey C win 6-0 at Crowland C.

Up in Division One, Donington C were made to fight for their fifth win from as many games. They saw off Consti F 4-2 in a close clash, with Ben Wrigglesworth (O14) – who made breaks of 31 and 25 – winning the vital final frame.

That wasn’t the best break in the match, as team-mate Neil Reynolds (O49) bagged a cool 34.

Second-placed Pyramid B lost their flawless record as they went down 4-2 at Boundary A.

Stewart Lilley’s black-ball win in the final frame got the job done for the Deepings side, despite breaks of 41 and 27 from Bourne ace Jason Green (O63).

Gosberton B are third after picking up a four-point haul against Services E. Wins on the final black from Carl Wand (O7) and Josh Fell (O14) proved key for the high-flyers.

Meanwhile, Holbeach A saw their 100 per cent record wiped out by club rivals Holbeach D, who romped to a 5-1 victory.

This one was wrapped up early, with Neil Grant (R7), Paul Daw (O14) and Don Monk (O7) taking the first three frames for the D side.

The best break in the top tier came from Bren Bowman (O49), who reeled off scores of 52, 23 and 20 as his Tulips A charges beat Bourne SC A 5-1 to earn their second win of the campaign.

At the bottom, Pyramid A are still seeking their first win of the season after going down 6-0 at home to Tulips B.

In Division Three, Long Sutton C made it four wins from as many matches by beating hosts Services D 4-2.

Keith Wells (O21) pocketed a 25 break for Sutton, who are level with Gosberton C at the summit.

Crowland A are two points off the pace in third after knocking off hosts Pyramid E 4-2. Richard Walker (R7) and Paul Cook (R7) won the final two frames to see them home.

Level on points with them are Consti E, who dispatched Consti D 5-1 in an all-club affair. A further point back are Donington B after they earned a 5-1 success of their own at Bourne SC B – clinched by Dave Banister (scr) in the penultimate frame.
