Rare Lincolnshire CC award is a constant reminder of legend Henry at Spalding Town

Almost two years have passed since the South Holland sporting community lost stalwart Henry Walkers – but he’s now been immortalised at Spalding Town Cricket Club.

Henry, who played more than 1,100 games for Town between 1964 and 2014, lost a short battle with illness during his 50th season with the club.

Unbeknown to him, Henry had been recognised by Lincolnshire County Cricket for his 50 years of outstanding services – but unfortunately the award arrived too late for him to be able to accept.

The Ann Boulton Award for Outstanding Services to Cricket was presented to Town skipper Rob Ambrose on Henry’s behalf at the end of last season – something his widow Sara and children Amy and Oliver took great pride in.

With it being such a rare and privileged accolade to receive, the Walkers family gifted the posthumous award to Town chairman George Sly at the club’s presentation night.

The award now takes pride of place in the clubhouse and will serve as a constant reminder for all of the outstanding loyalty Henry showed the club during his life.
