Racing takes a back seat at Welland Yacht Club’s family camping weekend

With no racing at Welland Yacht Club on Sunday, it was time for the annual family camping weekend.

Saturday afternoon saw camp Welland truly established, then it was to the water with anything that floated.

From windsurfers, paddle boards, kayaks to a thoroughbred racing skiff, all took to the water for an enjoyable afternoon, before a barbecue and quiz rounded off day one.

Sunday started with junior sailing, then members travelled up river to the A16 bridge for a picnic and the juniors had a quick game of rounders before heading home.

  • In a change to the programme there will be junior sailing on Sunday (9.30am-11am) followed by the novice regatta featuring race one in the morning and races two and three in the afternoon.
