Pride of district set to be named

Some of the incredible people who make South Holland the place it is will be recognised in the Pride of South Holland awards this weekend.

The short-listed finalists have been notified ahead of the event at the South Holland Centre this Sunday (June 23).
Those short-listed are:
* Angela Ablett and John Pailing for the Caring Neighbour award, sponsored by Coun Manzur Hasan and Matthew Clark.
* Laura Osborn and Black Cat Buses for the Service with a Smile award, sponsored by Coun Elizabeth Sneath.
* Matthew Duncan and Ollie Ford are up for the Young Achiever of the Year, sponsored by Andy Molsom.
* The Senior Citizen of the Year, sponsored by Calthrops Solicitor is between Ganshyam Seta and Judy Dolton.
* Dave Mustoe and Susan Guy are up for the Charity Worker award, sponsored by councillors Jo Reynolds and Jack Tyrrell.
* Callum Smith, Ben Tyler, Charlie Burley plus Chris Schofield are in line for the Community Hero award sponsored by Couns Henry Bingham and Andrew Woolf.
* Sally Pilgrim and Vanessa Browning are nominated as the Volunteer of the Year, sponsored by Woodhead Brothers.
* The teams behind Boxes of Hope, and Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust are up for the Special Achievements, sponsored by Springfields.
* Little Miracles and Carole Baker, are up for the Bakkavor special award.
* Tennis player Luke Orton and Spalding United are in line for the sports award as sponsored by Coun Paul Redgate.
An as yet unannounced celebrity has been lined up to hand out the awards.
Organiser Jan Whitbourn said: “Everyone’s looking forward to what is set to be an amazing event on Sunday when we will recognise some of those who make such a difference to their community.
“The judges had an incredibly hard job deciding on who even to shortlist for the awards so all those in line for one should feel incredibly proud already.”
