Police treating Spalding deaths as murder

Police have confirmed they are treating two deaths in Spalding yesterday as murder.

The bodies of two people were discovered at a house in Dawson Avenue, off Royce Road, just after 12.15pm.

Forensic investigations continue at the scene.

The names of the two victims have not yet been released as family members are still being made aware.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the enquiry. They continue to be interviewed this morning.

DCI Martin Holvey, from EMSOU Major Crime and who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to hear from anyone in the area of Dawson Avenue from Wednesday (April 13) at 12pm to the same time yesterday and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious or that they think may be relevant to the enquiry.

“Please contact us on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 163 of 15/04/2016. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Superintendent Paul Timmins said: “The events that unfolded in Spalding yesterday have understandably generated a great deal of local concern and upset.

“I would like to make clear that this type of crime is extremely rare and not something we often see.  Indeed, we believe this is a completely isolated incident. There is still a lot of police activity in the area and extra officers in the neighbourhood and I would encourage anyone who has any concerns to please talk to our officers.

“This is very much an active investigation that is in its early stages and police would like people not to speculate as to the circumstances surrounding it. We are looking at a number of lines of enquiry and doing our utmost to get to the bottom of what has happened.”
