Police investigating assault

Police are investigating after an alleged assault by doormen, a purported video of which has been shared widely on social media.

An 18-year-old male was left injured following the incident reported at Bentely’s establishment in New Street at 12.30am on Sunday, August 2.

A 17 second video purported to be of the incident outside the venue has been shared numerous times on social media.

It appears to show a young male being punched and kicked by two individuals, one of whom has torn clothes.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “The victim, an 18 year old man has sustained several injuries including ones to his face.

“We are aware of the video and we are investigating.”

Bentley’s released a statement on their Facebook page: “We’re aware of an incident that occurred outside our premises on Saturday August 1,” the statement says. “We take such incidents very seriously and the matter is being thoroughly investigated.

“We are pro actively complying with all the necessary authorities and providing extensive CCTV footage and reports detailing the entire event.

The safety of our customers and our staff will always be paramount, however given that the incident is currently under investigation, we will not be providing any further comment at this stage.”
