Pinchbeck United set to raid rivals Moulton Harrox for top scorer Maltby

Pinchbeck United look set to pull off one of the signings of the summer so far after revealing they’ve got a deal in place for Moulton Harrox goal machine Ollie Maltby.

The striker, who finished as the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division’s leading scorer last season with 42 goals, has verbally agreed to join Ian Dunn’s side.

Having been part of Harrox’s title-winning team under Dave Panton last season, Dunn identified Maltby as his top summer target.

And, while he can’t officially sign him until after the league AGM, the Pinchbeck chief is confident that he’s got his man.

“We quickly identified that we needed a goal-scorer,” said Dunn. “Ollie was the top scorer in the league last season and has also played for the club before, so he was the obvious target.

“He’s really proved himself as a striker this season, having been more of a prolific midfielder in recent seasons.

“We sold the club to him and thankfully he’s decided to choose us over other options. We’ll be using him as a striker, that’s for sure.”

Pinchbeck, who announced that deals were in place for ex-Holbeach United duo Jack Smith and Chris Shipley earlier in the summer, have also agreed terms with ICA Sports midfielder Fabio Ramos.

The versatile ace impressed against Pinchbeck last season and was another top target.

Dunn added: “Fabio was a player that really stood out for both Riverside and ICA Sports last season.

“He can play in attack or in a much deeper role and is very good technically.

“Obviously we’ve lost Tyler Wright to Holbeach, but I’m happy that the four new faces will really improve our side – providing they all sign forms. I’m sure they all will, but you never know.”
