Pinchbeck United must go back to basics in a bid to halt their slump, admits boss Lewis Thorogood.
Following a great run of four games unbeaten in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North between August 8 and September 18, the Knights have now suffered four defeats on the spin in all competitions.
That includes shipping 13 goals in their last two games, something Thorogood is obviously concerned by.
This Saturday sees Pinchbeck make the trip to Skegness Town in the Lincs FA Senior Trophy (3pm), meaning they can put their league troubles behind them temporarily.
Skegness have lost five of their last six too, with Thorogood expecting both sides to play strong sides in a comeptition the clubs often rotate their teams in.
“It’s time to look at things closely again,” said Thorogood, who celebrates a year in charge of Pinchbeck this Monday. “I think we need to go back to basics if I’m honest.
“Be it how we train, how we line-up formation-wise or just looking at personnel, we need to make a change.
“We’ve got some good players here and they’ve shown that, but I am looking to cherry-pick a few players to improve things too.
“Skegness have been struggling as of late and had a big derby against Boston Town on Wednesday too. We’ll be nice and rested, so hopefully that’s an advantage.
“Both sides are out of form, so I don’t expect too much rotation. It’s an opportunity to put our league struggles to one side and see what we can do in the cup.”
