Red-hot Pinchbeck United completed their ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division season with a 6-2 derby win at Crowland Town on Saturday.
Player/boss Ian Dunn notched a hat-trick as his side secured at least third place in the table – and took their goals tally for the season to 103.
Tony Edwards (penalty), Brad Murrell – from a trademark thunderbolt free-kick – and Tom Sergeant also netted for Pinchbeck, with Corban Oldham and Teddy Paling the Crowland scorers at Snowden Field.
The win made it 16 wins from their last 17 league games for United.
“It was a pleasing way to finish the league season,” said Dunn. “Getting to 100 goals for the campaign is also a great achievement.
“We end up on 81 points, which would probably have seen us champions in many past seasons.
“Moulton Harrox are deserving champions, but we can be very happy with ourselves.
“We went 1-0 and 2-1 down, but in the end we perhaps could have scored ten if I’m honest.
“Tony missed a penalty and we created so much in the second half, but you have to be happy with 6-2.
“It was the perfect preparation for Friday’s final with Moulton and we can now go into that full of confidence.”
The win clinches third place for Pinchbeck, with Whittlesey Athletic – who have been promoted to UCL Division One – taking second.
