Lewis Thorogood admits that he doesn’t know what to expect from Lincolnshire rivals Deeping Rangers ahead of Tuesday night’s derby.
Pinchbeck United will make the trip to Deeping for a Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North showdown on Tuesday night (7.45pm), with Thorogood’s charges expected to be the underdogs.
The Knights will be well-rested for the The Haydon Whitham Stadium clash, however, given that they have the weekend off due to being out of the Emirates FA Cup.
Deeping, meanwhile, will be at Winterton Rangers in the national knockout competition.
“I’m not so sure what Deeping will be like this season,” admitted Thorogood. “They’ve undergone a few changes since we last met.
“What I do know is that they are a really good club with a great set-up and you’d expect them to do what they always do – play good football.
“It’s obviously helpful for us that we’ve got a free weekend to patch the lads up and get a full strength squad out, which I think looks likely.
“We’ll go there and look to take something, we certainly believe that we’re capable.”
New signing Harry Peasgood should feature after making his debut in the 3-0 loss at Gresley Rovers on Saturday (see page 29).
Deeping lost their season opener 4-2 at Boston Town, but claimed their first league victory of the season by battering Selston 5-1.
Upcoming UCL Premier Division North fixtures (7.45pm): Tuesday – Boston Town v Holbeach United; Deeping v Pinchbeck United; Heather St John’s v Anstey Nomads. Wednesday – Sleaford Town v Skegness Town.
