The ChromaSport Peterborough and District Football League returns this weekend as an end of season cup competition kicks off.
With the COVID-19 lockdown resulting in the null and voiding of the leagues, clubs have voted to take part in voluntary cup competitions that begin this weekend.
Training started last week with the first friendlies having taken place at the weekend.
The teams in the top PDFL league will play in the Senior Cup.
Moulton Harrox boasted a 100 per cent league record before the league season was curtailed and they’ll be looking at the possibility of silverware from the tournament as they face Netherton United in the first fixture on Saturday, their only home fixture ahead of trips to ICA Sports, Eunice Huntingdon, Peterborough Northern Star Reserves, NECI and FC Peterborough in the group stage.
Long Sutton Athletic took on Tydd in a pre-season friendly on Saturday with Sutton edging the match 2-1.
They open with a game against Oundle in their group which also includes Crowland Town.
Crowland are at Stamford Belvedere.
Tydd are in a group with both Crowland and Pinchbeck United’s Reserve side, the latter who they face at Glebe Field this week.
Crowland Reserves are at Uppingham.
In the PDFL’s Minor Cup, Holbeach Bank open the group stage by hosting Wittering Premair B, Long Sutton A are at Hampton A and Sutton Reserves host Leverington Sports Reserves at the London Road Playing Field.
The Boston and District League are also holding an end of season competition kicking off this weekend.
In the opening round of group fixtures, Holbeach Bank’s side in the league host Boston Athletic on Saturday, while Donington-based South Lincolnshire Swifts are taking on Wrangle.
All games are 2pm kick offs.
