A woman has been injured in a car fire after accidentally igniting petrol fumes.
Emergency services were called to a Ford Focus on fire on Bridgewater Lane in Pinchbeck shortly after 8pm last night (Monday, September 7).
Nearby neighbours reported hearing a loud bang followed by flames and a cloud of smoke that could be seen across the village.
It’s been reported on social media that the person injured is a woman whose condition is not known.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “The fire caused damage to 90 per cent of the car, and damage to an outside light attached to the property.
“Our crews extinguished the fire using two hose reels and two breathing apparatus.
“A fire investigation was carried out and confirmed that this was caused by accidental ignition of petrol fumes.
“One person was injured and was left in the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service.”
Claire Cortes lives on the street the incident happened. She said: “Me and my husband was just watching tv it was about 8pm, my son hadn’t been in bed long maybe 10 minutes.
“We just heard a loud bang.
“At first I thought my son had fallen out of bed so I went running upstairs and it wasn’t him.
“The next thing I hear is screaming and shouting call 999 and shouting where are the kids get them out.
“Other neighbours helped look after the kids to keep them safe. Shortly after police cars arrived followed by fire engine.
“It was very scary and at the time we didn’t know if anybody was in the car.
“Hearing every explosion from the car we just thought it was going to blow completely.
“Luckily fire services turned up just in time, it could of been a lot worse. Y
“We all hope she’s ok.”
