PDFL round-up: Five-up Moulton Harrox fight back to win derby and go eight clear

Moulton Harrox came from behind to beat neighbours Holbeach United Reserves 3-2 in a ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division cracker on Tuesday night.

Goals from Callum Simmonds and Louis Steadman gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead at the break, but Harrox ran out winners thanks to goals from Marcus Parry, Ian Bradbury (penalty) and Joe Townsend at Broad Lane.

The victory moves Kev Nottingham’s side eight points clear at the top.

Also 3-2 winners on Tuesday night Sutton Bridge United, who defeated hosts Leverington Sports.

Saturday’s action saw Moulton make it four wins from as many games with a 2-0 success at Ketton. The red-hot Townsend and Declan Earth got the goals for Harrox in Stamford.

Sutton Bridge United played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Whittlesey Athletic at Memorial Park, with Matt Eaton notching twice.

Sam Stockdale was also on the mark for hosts Bridge in what was the game of the day.

Tydd also picked up a solid home point as they held Peterborough Sports Development 1-1 at the Fenland Stadium.

Daniel Piccaver scored for the Saints, who had Stuart Brown sent off.

Also collecting a point were Holbeach United Reserves, who battled back against Stamford Lions at Carter’s Park.

Goals from Jonny Allen and Simmonds secured a 2-2 draw in a game that also saw John Smith sent off.

Promoted Long Sutton Athletic also put in a battling showing against champions Netherton United before succumbing 1-0 at London Road.

The Magpies are still searching for their first win in the top tier.

In Division One, all three South Holland sides were beaten.

Champions Moulton Harrox went down 4-2 at home to Oundle Town, despite goals from Jake Farrell and Tom Panton.

A Simon Acton goal couldn’t stop Crowland Town losing 2-1 at Wittering Harriers, while Ashley Wilson’s double and a Bede Finnigan effort were in vain as Spalding Town went down 5-3 at home to Whittlesey Reserves.

Wednesday night sees Long Sutton host Tydd in Division One (7.30pm).
