PDFL Premier Division derby the highlight as South Holland quartet gear up for Groundhop

Four South Holland sides will take part in this weekend’s UCL and PDFL Groundhop event.

This year’s hop will see eight games played over three days, with the South Holland interest coming in the ChromaSport PDFL this time around.

The pick of the matches for South Holland fans is the Premier Division derby between newly-promoted Tydd FC and perennial title contenders Moulton Harrox on Saturday (1.30pm).

The clash is Tydd’s first-ever in the PDFL’s top flight, while new Harrox chief Kev Nottingham will be taking charge of his first match as senior boss – having stepped up from the Reserves.

Entrance to the clash at Tydd St Giles Community Centre and Recreation ground is £4 for over-16s, with children going free.

The gates will open at noon, with Tydd putting on a licensed bar, food stall, inflatable kids obstacle course and a raffle.

Directly before that derby clash, promoted South Holland side Whaplode Drove will host Rippingale and Folkingham in Division Two (10.45am).

The late afternoon game also has a South Holland flavour, with Sutton Bridge United welcoming Premier Division newboys Peterborough Polonia to Memorial Park for a 4.30pm kick-off.

The Groundhop itself gets under way with a Future Lions UCL Division One date between hosts Raunds Town and Irchester United on Friday night (7.45pm).

Saturday’s action concludes with a UCL Premier Division clash between home side Sleaford Town and Deeping Rangers (7.45pm).

Sunday sees Peterborough Norther Star v Wellingborough Town (10.45am), Whitworth v Cogenhoe United (1.15pm) and Stilton United v Cardea (5pm).
