Paula and Elaine star at Spalding Golf Club’s Ping Day with magnificent score

Paula Brown and Elaine Hancock were the winners of the annual Ping Day in Spalding Golf Club’s ladies’ section.

Some 24 teams took to the Surfleet course for a four-ball-better-ball Stableford competition, playing off 90 per cent handicap allowance in fine weather.

A magnificent score of 46 points earned Brown and Hancock the win, ahead of Gill Dewhurst and Julie Gooderson (44pts) and Olive Gooderson and Sue Matthews (42pts).

Ladies’ section result: Spalding 4 King’s Lynn 0 (Paula Brown & Hannah Thorold won 6&5, Ruth Atkins & Mo Wallace won 3&1, Sue Watson & Beryl Skinner won 2&1, Olive Gooderson & Deborah Ellis won 1up).

  • A group of ladies from Spalding travelled to Greetham Valley GC for a four-way match also involving Melton Mowbray and Belton Woods.
    Spalding finished third, with Greetham the winners on countback from Melton.
