The Spalding People’s Parade is “going from strength to strength” according to organisers.
Despite the mixed weather forecast many more people attended the event this year which saw even more attractions in the grounds of the Sir John Gleed School.
Music was provided by local band The Sound Injectors who also arranged other entertainment.
The parade set off at 1pm for its tour round Maple Grove, the riverbank and Halmergate.
Parade manager Bruce Alexander said: “It was great to see so many people out along the route. We can only hope to improve year on year and that support was a definite improvement on last year.”
MP John Hayes judged the entrants and presented them with certificates acknowledging their efforts.
He said: “Today was exactly what I had hoped for. The floats showed off the talents of our children in particular. It demonstrated a gradual improvement on last year, which I’m sure represents the start of a great legacy for Spalding.”
Parade chairman Ian Smee said: “I’m very pleased to see the progress made from last year’s humble beginnings.
“John Hayes expressed his hope the event would gradually improve and become an important part of the Spalding calendar. Today has encouraged my belief in his vision.”
