Organ recital to mark 800 years of Holbeach church

Renowned organist David Shepherd will be giving a recital in Holbeach at the weekend.

As part of a series of events to celebrate 800 years of All Saints’ Church, David will be giving an organ recital in the church at 1.30pm on Saturday.
David is a very accomplished organist who has broadcast light organ music on Radio 2’s ‘The Organist Entertains’ since 1968, some of it from the theatre pipe-organ in his Lincolnshire home.
He is assistant organist at St Botolph’s, Boston (The Stump), and is also very involved with the Cinema Organ Society, the British Institute of Organ Studies, and is currently vice-president of the Theatre Organ Club.
He is very much in demand as an accompanist, and has worked locally with the South Holland Singers, Sleaford Choral Society and Cantemus.
The programme will be a celebration of British music by composers past and present, and very varied in musical style, from the founders of the English Organ Tradition, GF Handel and Maurice Greene, through SS Wesley, Alfred Herbert Brewer, John Ireland and Edward Elgar to the 20th Century music of Eric Coates, Alec Templeton, Eric Wayman and William Lloyd Webber.
From the reflective and elegiac to the upbeat and uplifting, there is something for everyone in this programme.
Tickets are £5 and available at the door.
Light lunches (homemade soup and sausage rolls) and drinks will be available from 12.30pm onwards.
